I’m glad you’re here. Reaching out for support can feel difficult, vulnerable, or even overwhelming, and taking this step often carries more courage than it may seem. Whatever has brought you here, you do not have to navigate it alone. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, breathe, and begin untangling what feels heavy, uncertain, or disconnected.

I am a RSW, with a Master of Social Work in clinical practice with a trauma-informed lens. Healing is rooted in the belief that understanding ourselves happens through connection with our inner world, with others, with nature, and with the stories that shape our lives. Stories help us remember where we come from, make sense of where we are, and imagine where we are going, strengthening both individual growth and community. Stories are an important part of our work together, these stories help us understand ourselves, our relationships, and our sense of belonging. In therapy, we gently explore these stories with care, curiosity, and compassion, allowing space for reflection, healing, and new possibilities. Our sessions may include conversation, practical tools, body-based awareness, or moments of quiet reflection—always guided by what feels most helpful to you.

I have additional training and a special interest in working with women and helping them see their strengths. I have a certificate in women’s mental health and a certificate in menopause and mental health. I was trained to use ACT, DBT and CBT as well as others in treating the unique mental health challenges women feel such as isolation, body image, ADHD, identity and purpose as well as the common phrase I just don’t feel like myself! Together, we’ll explore the stories that have shaped your journey, helping you move through life’s transitions and create a future aligned with your desires.

Therapy with me is meant to feel safe, supportive, and grounded in connection. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear plan when you arrive. We can take our time, start where you are, and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I see therapy as a shared process, where your experiences and perspectives are honoured. My role is not to tell you who to be or what to do, but to walk alongside you as you explore what’s been shaping your life and what you want moving forward.

My absolute favorite quote is from Carl Jung, “Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul.” I believe in the importance of genuine human connection within the therapeutic space, that is rooted in empathy, compassion, trust and authenticity. I value meeting each person with curiosity and respect, honoring their lived experiences while providing a safe and brave space where they feel seen, heard and accepted.

I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker with a background in providing counselling to individuals with developmental disabilities and support to parents and caregivers. I recognize the emotional complexities that can come with caregiving and strive to offer a compassionate, non-judgmental approach that honors each person’s unique journey. I also work with individuals experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression and emotion dysregulation. I draw my approach from various modalities and is centered on each individual’s unique needs, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I believe in creating an inclusive and affirming space where individuals feel understood, supported, and empowered. My hope is that clients leave therapy feeling more connected to themselves, equipped with the resilience and confidence to navigate life’s journey.

Hello! I focus on treating trauma, couples therapy, and mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety. I work primarily with adults as well as adolescents through Individual, Couples, and Family therapy. My personal belief is that every individual has the capacity to reach meaningful happiness in their goals and relationships provided they can partner with the support needed to overcome their challenges.

I focus on promoting positive beliefs while helping clients understand how trauma affects our bodies. Trauma, both large and small, has become an increased focus of my practice, as I help clients with needs ranging from PTSD, generational trauma, abuse related trauma and more. I acknowledge how developmental life experiences can regularly make physical, emotional, and mental barriers to reaching our goals. In this way, I strive to address the past, while nurturing client’s present and future connection with their values.

I find a particular passion in working with relationships, and specialize in couples therapy. I utilize Gottman Method Couples Therapy tools while integrating other therapies that assist in overcoming broken trust, resentment, and other underlying needs that often prevent couples from reaching success. Among other couples’ needs, I regularly treat conflict, divorce/separation, affairs, and provide premarital therapy. Whenever possible, I see to involve the family system in reaching both individual and group goals.

Additional areas I have experience working with include Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, burnout, grief and complex bereavement, unhealthy sleep and nightmares, adolescent and young adult life transitions, pornography and gaming addictions, loneliness and more. I see clients as experts in their own life, and my role is to be a guide and partner, by providing tools that have overcome similar struggles.

Meet Jhan

Registered Psychologist Registered Art Therapist

With over 20 years of experience, Jhan brings a wealth of knowledge, creativity, and compassion to her work with children, teens, and adults. She takes a warm, trauma-informed approach to therapy, recognizing that everyone has their own story, challenges, and ways of making sense of the world.

Jhan works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and a variety of emotional and life challenges. She has experience supporting LGBTQ+ and transgender clients, as well as people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Her approach is flexible and individualized, drawing on a range of therapeutic techniques, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), art therapy, and play-based interventions. She believes that meaningful therapy begins with creating a space where people feel safe, understood, and accepted.

A special passion for working with children

While Jhan enjoys working with people of all ages, she has particular expertise in child psychology, working with children as young as two through their early teenage years. As both a Registered Psychologist and Registered Art Therapist, she understands that children experience and communicate their emotions differently than adults.

For children, play isn’t just play. It’s how they tell us their stories.

Children don’t always have the words to explain what they’re feeling or why something is bothering them. Instead, they often communicate through art, imagination, storytelling, and play. Jhan creates a welcoming, accepting environment where children can explore their experiences, express difficult emotions, and begin to make sense of their world.

Her therapy room is filled with opportunities for creative expression, including drawing, painting, clay, collage, toys, and sand trays. Rather than expecting children to sit and talk about their problems, Jhan takes a child-led approach, allowing them to guide their sessions through the activities that feel most natural to them.

Through this process, children can explore difficult experiences, develop a better understanding of their feelings, and begin to build new ways of coping. Jhan pays close attention to the stories children tell through their play, helping them feel understood and gently guiding them toward healing and emotional growth.

Supporting parents along the way

Jhan also recognizes that when a child is struggling, parents often have questions, worries, and a strong desire to help. She works collaboratively with parents to help them better understand their child’s emotional needs and develop practical, positive ways to support them at home.

She balances this involvement with respect for the child’s privacy and the trust built within the therapeutic relationship, helping families feel supported throughout the process.

Whether she’s helping an adult work through a difficult experience, supporting a teenager navigating challenging emotions, or sitting alongside a young child as they tell their story through play, Jhan’s goal is to help each person feel heard, understood, and supported in finding their own path forward.

CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS

As a College of Alberta Registered Psychologist, I strive to meet the counselling needs of adults, couples, families, and teens struggling with issues stemming from their experience of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, separation and divorce, parenting, family functioning, workplace problems, work/life balance, couples with relationship challenges, pre-marriage considerations, and wellness struggles.

I strive to utilize various approaches from the perspective of matching interventions to individuals according to their self-described needs. I hold to the assertion that people only know what they know and that explorations in how they think, feel, and behave open them to growth in their respective areas of knowing. I am very honored to have received affirmations from the people I serve and my colleagues that I am a very pleasant, present and caring individual who provides people with the problem solving content needed to improve their circumstances and to manage their problem situation/s by facilitating their ability to access their unused resources and opportunities for learning and growth.

Personal Background: Since it is very important that there is a “good fit” between psychologists and the people they serve, the following is a brief background that I hope will give you more information about me that I hope will help you determine whether you think that I am someone with whom you can establish a strong psycho-therapeutic relationship.

I grew up on a farm in southern Manitoba. I enjoyed being part of a large family who valued family, friends, community, church, hard work, and the great outdoors. When I moved to Calgary, I worked as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer with the City of Calgary while raising my children with my husband. I have also held positions with Alberta Health Services (at the Family Caregiver Centre, and The Calgary Board of Education (at the Teacher’s Resource Centre).

I received a Social Work Diploma from the Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, Manitoba. I completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Calgary. I then completed a Master of Counselling Degree from the Campus Alberta Applied Psychology Program (a University of Calgary, Athabasca University, and University of Lethbridge Collaboration) with a Specialization in Counselling Psychology in 2006. I have been an active College of Alberta Registered Psychologist since 2008.

Sometimes the hardest part is finding someone who truly understands what you’re going through.

Maybe you’ve done the work—years of it—and yet the same patterns keep showing up. Or maybe this is all completely new, and you’re not even sure where to start. You may have been told your situation is “too complex,” or you may simply feel overwhelmed trying to make sense of what you’re experiencing. You’re not too much. You’re not broken beyond repair. You just haven’t found the right fit yet.

I specialize in working with people who’ve been through the therapeutic revolving door: those carrying complex trauma, layered histories, and the kind of pain that doesn’t fit neatly into a single diagnosis or a six-session treatment plan. My approach is flexible because you are not one-size-fits-all. I draw from multiple modalities to meet you exactly where you are.

What I offer is a space where you can finally exhale. Where your story makes sense, even the messy parts. Where healing isn’t about performing progress but about actually feeling it.

If you’re ready to try with someone who gets it, I’m here.
